My three-pence and welsh lady:
9/10 these are in my ears, which sounds weird if you don’t know they’re charms for my earrings. I bought them at an antique shop to replace my other (lost) ones. I got inspired to start putting my own charms on jewellery by a lovely chatty man who works at the same antique shop I bought them in. He’s always decked out in thousands of bangles and hoops, and he wears these traditional Japanese block sandals that make him seem like he glides about the place (unless when he’s in a hurry). He’s always felt really androgynous to me, so I sort of think of him a lot of the time when I wear them. These charms ground me a lot. One masculine, one feminine, on me when I sometimes want to be just neither- or even in-between. They make me feel just that little bit more confident in not thinking about the way people are perceiving me, and just stepping out the way I want to that morning.
