When I was a teenager and still figuring out my sexuality I was an air cadet. My squadron was surprisingly queer and helped me feel comfortable being out. When I first started I had severe social anxiety and never thought I’d get promoted to a rank. But then the girl I had a crush on got promoted and wasn’t meant to talk to non-rank cadets at break. So then I had to get promoted! I got to the second highest rank and we ended up dating.
